On 21st August 2016, Minami-Nippon Shimbun reported that Mr. Marc Squarciafichi, who is an international artist from France, and Kuniko Kitayama visited Tsuma Shrine in Osaki City in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Also known as Marcestel, Mr Squarciafichi paintings are inspired by Japanese mythologies. His book, Japan Mythology, painted over 120 shrines across Japan and was dedicated to Tsuma Shrine.
